It all started with a visit last fall to my newfound favorite destination for textile inspiration and indulgence, Well Made Home. Melanie Mount & Kelly Willrich, friends and former Pottery Barn executives, founded the full service custom furniture and home furnishings workshop to make exquisite, handpicked artisanal fabrics more accessible to the public. With hundreds of vibrantly colored and beautifully patterned textiles to drool over, you can see how they were the catalyst for my guest bedroom makeover. Without a specific idea in mind, I was instantly drawn to interior designer Schuyler Samperton‘s floral Caledonia in a bold indigo and vibrant mandarin orange. Without hesitation, Melanie and Kelly suggested upholstering a new bed frame – I could even help design the shape of the headboard. Fabulous idea! And what about contrasting the patterned bed against another complimentary pattern, like in the form of wallpaper? Textile wallpaper. Wait, that’s a possibility? I learned quickly that anything is conceivable at Well Made Home. And since I’m one to never take “no” for an answer, it was “yes, yes yes!”

So this is the deal with textile wallpaper. Apparently, you can turn nearly any fabric into wallpaper by having a special adhesive applied to the backside. The ladies at Well Made Home had Schuyler Samperton‘s linen Firefly in Ocean ordered, treated, and sent to my house within days and all I had to do then was hire someone to professionally hang the paper. Easy peasy. And the texture is so incredibly luxurious, I literally want to do this in every room of the house. A few weeks later, my newly upholstered bed frame was delivered and assembled. And from that point on, everything else fell right into place.

The oversized textile print is from St. Frank. Their mounted and one-of-a-kind framed textiles have been on my wish list for some time, and yet I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of print. They feel almost three dimensional! I love the statement it makes and the way it pops against my freshly painted matte walls. The chair is an old piece from One Kings Lane and the Peter Dunham lumbar pillow is, of course, from Well Made Home’s Cushion Shop.

The linen bedding is from Parachute. We have them in our master bedroom and I adore them so much, I swear, I’m never going to back to cotton! Here I have the shams in Fog and the standard pillows and duvet in Blush. The pillows are a mix from Peter Dunham, Schuyler Samperton, and Walter G.

More art – this one is from Artfully Walls, my go-to for affordable framed prints.

I bought these ceramic charms in Istanbul several years ago and have had them in storage since. I was super excited to stumble across them recently and thought they’d make a great room accessory.

My second favorite element of the room has to be the beautiful set of brass switch plates from Forbes & Lomax. They weren’t the easiest to have installed (shear wall issues) but I must say, it was well worth the trouble and the wait. I think my determination to incorporate them into the room was mostly inspired by how long it actually took me to track the switch plates down! The brass sconces are from Wayfair, the bedside table is from West Elm, and the vintage bedside paintings are from Elsie Green. I love them because they remind me of my hometown of Palos Verdes, California.
