Jim Carrey Has Been Cleared Of All Lawsuits Filed By The Family Of His Deceased Ex

Jim Carrey’s messy legal fight over the death of his girlfriend Cathriona White appears to have come to an end. Of course, the messiness that is being Jim Carrey continues. But for the moment he doesn’t have to worry about swinging into court and trying to repeat parts of his performance of Liar, Liar.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, all the lawsuits surrounding Jim Carrey and Cathriona White have recently been dismissed. In 2016, a year after Cathriona White committed suicide, her husband Mark Burton and her mother Brigid Sweetman filed a wrongful death lawsuit agaisnt Jim. They accused Jim of giving Cathriona several STDs, supplying her with a multitude of pills knowing she had a history of depression, and driving her to the edge.

Jim fired back with his own lawsuit, claiming that Mark and Brigid were shaking him down, and that Cathriona had been extorting him with phony STD results. Jim’s lawyer Raymond Boucher came to the conclusion that Cathriona had forged an STD test from 2011, a year before she met Jim.

THR doesn’t say what was the deciding factor in dismissing the lawsuits. It’s also not known if Mark and Brigid can file a new lawsuit against Jim Carrey at any time. They only know that the official decision was made on January 25th. A rep for Jim Carrey only said that he’s looking forward “to moving on with his life.” Mark and Brigid’s lawyer Michael Avenatti simply told THR: “We have no further comment at this time.

I would say that if part of Jim’s plan to move on with his life is to start dating again, he might want to get used to the idea of bringing back his catchphrase “Alrighty then.” Because that’s pretty much going to be his go-to response after getting turned down dozens of times by women familiar with what it’s like to date Jim Carrey.
