What Will Happen To Hair If You Go To Bed With Your Head Wet

What Will Happen To Hair if you go to bed with your head wet. All of us from our mothers have heard more than once that after washing our hair our hair must be dried, otherwise you will catch a cold. But in adulthood, we often neglect the good advice of our mothers. To save time for morning styling, we wash our hair in the evening and go to bed with a wet head. In the morning we often regret it when we see in the mirror not an ideal styling a la Cool girl hair, as in the show of the spring-summer Philosophy collection, but an explosion at a pasta factory. But what to do, we all sin this time saving life hack. So it’s worth figuring out whether it is so safe for our strands?

Sam McKnight, a star hair stylist trusted by her heads Kate Moss, Kate Blanchett and Madonna, often resorts to this move: if he needs to create Cool girl hair styling (textured light waves) for shows, the master asks for models with naturally smooth hair wash your hair in the evening and go to bed with wet strands, after putting them into light braids. According to the stylist, the hair of the models will dry out and acquire the necessary “broken” texture of natural curls. Then he will only need to correct his hair in some places, curling a couple of strands. The second option, with which he achieves the same styling, is to curl all the hair of the models with the help of a curling iron, and then wet the curls with myst and smooth them with his hands so that the waves seem more natural.

Which hair option is safer? Should I sleep with wet strands or curl my hair? Do you think the first? Then you are mistaken. Even Sam McKnight does not recommend models to use such a life hack every day to avoid hair problems.

So what can happen to hair if you constantly go to bed without drying it?

You can hurt your hair

All stylists will tell you that wet hair is more vulnerable. They are not even recommended to be combed without drying at least half. So sleeping with wet curls is not a good idea, especially if your pillowcases are not silk. What does the pillowcase have to do with it? Despite the fact that silk, in contrast to standard cotton, from which sets of bed linen are most often made, has a smooth texture. The hair on such a smooth and sliding material does not tangled and does not break accordingly. In addition, silk does not “draw” excess moisture from the hair, as the same cotton does, so you can still sleep with a wet head on such pillowcases. But on cotton, this is not recommended.

You can wake up with a terrible haircut

When you go to bed with your head wet, there is a risk that your hair will not dry evenly in the morning, there will be vortices on the top of your head, and the strands will become tangled. All this will really hurt the hair, but even more – the mood. Because you will look like Kuzyu’s housekeeper and have to wash your curls again in the morning to deal with this mess on your head.

If you still need (or want) to go to bed with your head wet, follow the advice of Sam McKnight. First brush your hair with a soft bristle brush and then apply a spray or styling foam on strands and put them in tight braids so that the curls can dry evenly. In the morning you will untangle the braids and get a stylish styling. Of course, this is not worth doing every day, so that your hair does not dry out due to cotton pillowcases and does not become brittle and weakened.

You really can catch a cold

Moms are often right, because many things they learned from their own experience. So, their advice is worth listening to. In the cold season, doctors, like mothers, do not recommend going to bed with wet hair, as this can lead to hypothermia. In turn, this may lead to a cold. And it’s a shame to get sick without leaving the room. Of course, any doctor who listened carefully to the teachers will say that a cold is a viral disease, and it cannot miraculously occur due to normal temperature changes. Nevertheless, experience shows that it is also possible to catch a cold from hypothermia. It’s just that here in our body there are more different processes. When the body heats up, the vessels expand, and when it cools, they contract, preventing the white blood cells that fight viruses from acting freely.

That is, just a wet head does not harm the body. But if you have already picked up a virus somewhere, then it can contribute to the development of a cold. The connection, of course, seems far-fetched, but it’s better not to risk it. In the summer, please, at least every third evening go to bed with wet strands, they will dry out in an hour. But in winter and spring, while the air temperature is still not so high, do not risk your health.
